The E30 or Transversal Central is a road in Ecuador . The road is an east-west route through the center of the country from the coast at Manta to the east to Puyo . The E30 is 438 kilometers long.

Street description

The E30 begins in the coastal town of Manta on the E15 and then leads inland. The first part to Quevedo runs through the slightly hilly, densely forested coastal region. In Quevedo the E25 is crossed; in the further course the road reaches the Andes and rises sharply. In Apagua the road reaches a height of 4000 meters. However, the surrounding mountains are not very much higher than the road itself. Due to its proximity to the equator , the area is green and cultivated. The road then leads to the town of Latacunga , which is at an altitude of 2800 meters; from here to Ambato the E30 is identical to the E35. To the east of Ambato, the E30 leads down into the jungle of the Amazon. The end point is about 1000 meters above sea level near the city of Puyo on the E45.

history

The E30 has traditionally been an important transport route, especially for the inland city of Ambato. A toll has to be paid in the western part of the E30 near Manta. In 2011, the E30 was the only main road in Ecuador that was not of good quality.
