The Eagle River ( English for " Eagle is -flow") a small river on the Keweenaw Peninsula in the US state of Michigan .
The river empties into the village of Eagle River in Lake Superior . Most of the river runs within Houghton Township .
The river is formed by the confluence of the East Branch and West Branch Eagle River in the town of Phoenix , about 3500 m southeast of the mouth. The river runs parallel to the M-26 highway between Phoenix and Eagle Rivers .
The east and west headwaters run along the south side of the cliff chain before they converge in Phoenix. Then the watercourse breaks the chain and strives towards Lake Superior. The western source arm rises about five kilometers southwest of Phoenix in the northeast of the Allouez Township . Cliff Drive runs along the river for about two kilometers southeast of US Highway 41 and Route M-26. The only noteworthy tributary of the western arm is the Brodie Creek, which has its source a little further away from the shore of the peninsula and joins directly outside of Phoenix.
The origin of the eastern spring arm is in Beaver Pond, about eight kilometers east of Phoenix. It runs in a westerly direction and is flanked by US Highway 41. Its only major tributary is the Buffalo Creek , which joins about five kilometers east of Phoenix.
