Eamon Duffy
Eamon Duffy (born February 9, 1947 in Dundalk ) is an Irish church historian and university professor , who was awarded the Hawthornden Prize in 2002.
Life
After attending school, Duffy completed a degree in church history at the University of Cambridge with Professors Owen Chadwick and Gordon Rupp and was then a lecturer at the University of Durham and King's College London . Duffy later took on a professorship in church history at the University of Cambridge, where he was temporarily president of Magdalene College .
For his book The Voices of Morebath: Reformation and Rebellion in an English Village (2001) he was awarded the Hawthornden Prize in 2002. In addition to his teaching activities, he also took part as a guest on radio and television programs and was also a literary critic such as for The New York Review of Books .
