Ebba Atterbom
Ebba Atterbom (born January 19, 1868 in Gryt, Södermanland , † August 23, 1961 in Gothenburg ) was a Swedish translator . She has translated works from Italian , English , Norwegian and Danish into Swedish . Among other things, she made the translation of A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce , Joyce's first translation ever. She also translated Swedish literature into Italian, including works by Per Hallström and Sophie Elkan . She was also friends with Elkan and the two made several trips to Europe together .
Ebba Atterbom was the granddaughter of Per Daniel Amadeus Atterbom .
