Eberhard Amelung
Eberhard Armin Amelung (born July 7, 1926 in Königstein im Taunus , † October 5, 2008 in Icking ) was a German Protestant theologian and social ethicist .
Life
Eberhard Amelung was born as the son of the Königstein doctor Walther Amelung . After studying theology he received his doctorate in 1954 at the University of Marburg Dr. theol. with the dissertation: The democratic movements of 1848 in the judgment of Protestant theology. In 1961 he became senior assistant in Marburg, and from 1962 he was also the editor for Evangelical Responsibility , the magazine of the Evangelical Working Group of the CDU / CSU . In 1971 he was appointed full professor in Marburg. From 1975 to 1995 Amelung worked at the Institute for Theology and Ethics at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich-Neubiberg as Professor of Protestant Theology. He has written numerous treatises on ethical issues. After his retirement he was managing director of the sanatorium founded by his grandfather, the medical councilor Hugo Amelung (1857–1948), in Königstein.
He was a member of the Working Group for Medical Ethics and since 1953 a member of the Evangelical Working Group of the CDU / CSU. In the 1965 federal election he ran unsuccessfully on the CDU's Hessian state list.
