Eberhard Borchert (born May 22, 1941 in Berlin ) is a former German football player and coach. The offensive player played a total of 44 league games and scored ten goals in the contract league Berlin at the clubs Berliner SV 92 , Viktoria 89 Berlin and Hertha BSC from 1958 to 1963. In the first two years, 1963/64 and 1964/65, in the new Bundesliga , ten Bundesliga games with three goals were added at Hertha.

Career

Born in Lichterfelder, he began his career in 1958 with the Berlin top division club Berliner SV 92 . In the second half of the season he made his debut on March 22, 1959 in a 1-0 away win against BFC Südring on the right wing. Players like goalkeeper Wolfgang Böhnke , middle runner Alfred Herrmann , outside runner Horst Friese and attackers like Hans-Georg Gotsch and Heinz Schumann shaped the BSV game. Borchert played in four league games and the BSV finished eighth. When a striker scored 21 goals with Klaus Heuer in his second year , the BSV moved up to fourth place. Borchert had scored three goals in eight league appearances. After two years he moved to the league competitor Viktoria 89 Berlin , where he paused in the first season 1960/61 for reasons of study. In the 1961/62 season he ran on the side of teammates such as Helmut Beekmann , Gerhard Pastoors and Werner Nocht in 18 league games and scored two goals. For the last season of the old first-class contract league, 1962/63, he was signed by Hertha BSC .

With the blue-whites he immediately secured the win of the Berlin championship and thus qualified for the final round of the German championship. In the association round, Borchert had scored five goals in 14 league games for Hertha. He also ran on the last round matchday, May 5, 1963, in a 4-1 away win against SC Tegel as a left winger and scored two goals. In the final round of the German football championship , he came up in the four games against 1. FC Kaiserslautern (1: 1), 1. FC Cologne (3: 6, 1: 5) and 1. FC Nürnberg (0: 5) . As the last Berlin contract league champion, Hertha had qualified for the newly founded Bundesliga from the 1963/64 season.

Borchert played seven times and scored three goals - all on April 15, 1964 in a 5-2 home win against SV Werder Bremen . Hertha attacked in the 5-2 home win with Carl-Heinz Rühl , Helmut Faeder , Hans-Joachim Altendorff , Lutz Steinert and Borchert on the left wing. In the Bundesliga chronicle 1963/64 it is noted: “For the recently disappointing Beyer, Hertha coach Josef Schneider had given Borchert, who had been simmering on the reserve band for six months, a chance on the left wing outpost and - did everything right. Borchert celebrated a successful comeback with three goals. ”At Werder, Günter Bernard , Josef Piontek and Max Lorenz formed the final triangle. In the following season, the capitals were able to secure the league, but had to relegate due to the payment of excessive salaries.

In the 1964 DFB Cup , Borchert and Hertha BSC had successes against Meidericher SV (2: 1 a.s.), SpVgg Fürth (4: 3) and on May 20, 1964 against the first Bundesliga champion 1. FC Köln (4: 2) up to the semi-finals on June 3, 1964 against Eintracht Frankfurt. Hertha lost the game in Frankfurt with left winger Borchert 1: 3. In the first main round match against Meiderich, he had taken care of the winning goal in extra time. In the 4: 3 against Fürth he made for the 4: 2 intermediate result and also in the sensation against 1. FC Köln he stormed on the left wing.

Borchert then moved to FC Luzern in Switzerland . He later ended his career at SC Buochs , where he was then a coach for some time.
