Eberhard Cyran

Eberhard Cyran (born February 1, 1914 in Breslau ; † September 15, 1998 ) was a German writer .

Life

Eberhard Cyran graduated from high school in Breslau ; then he attended the State Academy for Arts and Crafts there . Later he moved to the State University of Fine Arts in Berlin and finally to the German Film Academy Babelsberg . He worked as a graphic designer , editor and assistant director. From 1948 Cyran was a freelance writer , and from 1961 he worked as an editor for the television division of the broadcaster Free Berlin . He last lived in Heidelberg .

Eberhard Cyran was the author of novels and short stories - often for a young reading audience - of historical non-fiction books , of screenplays and radio plays . He received u. a. 1966 an Adolf Grimme Prize , 1970 the Hermann Sudermann Prize and 1981 the Eichendorff Literature Prize .
