Athletic career

At the age of 17, Eberhard Fischer played his first games in the GDR league for the company sports club (BSG) Rotation Dresden. On December 14, 1952 he was first used as a defender in the encounter activist Brieske-Ost - Rotation Dresden (1: 2). Later in the season he was also called up in midfield and was used in a total of eleven league games in 1952/53. Even in the following five league seasons, Fischer did not succeed in establishing himself as a regular player, as he always had to cope with longer failures. In many cases he was only called up as a substitute. From 1956 (calendar year season) he was used as a striker, but until 1958 he only scored five goals. From November 1954 Fischer played with his previous team for the SC Einheit Dresden, which had taken over the soccer section of the BSG rotation. He completed his last season for Einheit Dresden in the season of 1958, in which he was only used in ten league games. In his six seasons including the transition round 1955 to change to the calendar year season with rotation or unit Dresden, he had come to 81 league appearances in a total of 177 games played and had scored six goals.

For the 1959 season, Fischer moved to the neighboring team, SG Dynamo Dresden, which had just been promoted from the third-class II. DDR -Liga to the I. DDR -Liga. There he was initially only used in six league games, but has already scored three goals. In 1960 he had already played his way into the player base, of the 26 games he played in 19 games and increased his goal count to five goals. In 1961 GDR football returned to the summer-spring game rhythm. To this end, 39 point games had to be played in the GDR league by June 1962, of which Fischer played 37 matches and after Dieter Legler (27) was Dresden's second-best goalscorer with 13 goals. So he also had a considerable share in the promotion to the league. There, Fischer played his last season in high-class football in 1962/63. He was only used in the first half of nine league games, in which he scored his last two goals for Dynamo Dresden. After 71 points games and 23 goals, Eberhard Fischer retired at the age of 28 with SG Dynamo and finally retired from top football.

Note

  1. A date of birth from 1941 is given in several sources for the time at Dynamo. This contradicts the 1961 and 1962 season preview of the German Sportecho with the date of birth of 1935.
  2. The date given in the DFB data center is incorrect, because the planned 2nd matchday was played later.
