Eberhard Heiland (born December 4, 1935 in Mühlhausen , † April 25, 2005 in Weimar ) was a German painter and ceramist.

Life

Heiland was a trained painter, attended the technical schools for fine and applied arts in Erfurt and Heiligendamm , then the college for fine arts in Berlin-Weißensee , graduated in 1963 as a ceramist . In 1968 he was accepted into the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR (VBK) as a craftsman. From 1973 to 1983 he was section head of the painters and graphic artists of the association. He was represented at several art exhibitions at home and abroad. From 1960 to 1989 he was a member of the SED .

Services

Fountain of Friendship between Nations in Erfurt's Riethstrasse

First he appeared with ceramic works and created object-related works of art on buildings or in public spaces, e.g. B. the figures on the "Fountain of Friendship of Nations" in the residential area Rieth in Erfurt (removed in 1988). He created brightly colored murals and friezes in numerous schools. His subjects ranged from people, files, landscapes to social subjects. In 1983 he painted three wall niches in the Bartholomäuskirche in Kapellendorf . For the local evangelical community center "Thomas Müntzer" he created a ceramic statue of the reformer (idea sculpture).
