Eberhard Illner

Eberhard Illner (born March 11, 1954 in Düsseldorf ) is a German historian and author. Until 2018 he was director of the Museum Historisches Zentrum in Wuppertal .

Life

Illner studied history and sociology at the University of Cologne and received his doctorate in 1981. Since 1986 he has worked at the Historical Archive of the City of Cologne and was responsible for collections, photography and bequests.

As the successor to Michael Knieriem , who retired in spring 2008, Illner became the new director of the historical center in Wuppertal in October 2008. He retired in February 2018, and is succeeded by Lars Bluma . Illner has a teaching position at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .
