Lars Bluma

Lars Bluma (born May 6, 1969 in Witten ) is a German engineering, science and mining historian . Since May 2018 he has been the director of the Wuppertal Historical Center .

Life

After studying history, German and philosophy at the Ruhr University in Bochum , he first worked at the university archive there, until he switched to the chair for economic and technical history in 1999 as a research assistant. There he was in 2004 with a thesis on Wiener Norbert and the emergence of cybernetics in World War II PhD . From 2007 to 2012 he was a research assistant in the third-party funded projects "Past and Future of Social Security Systems Using the Example of the Federal Miners' Union and its Successors" and "The Miner's Body in Industrialization: Biopolitics in the Ruhr Coal Mining 1890–1980" at the Medical History Institute of the Ruhr University employed. From 2012, Bluma headed the mining history research department at the German Mining Museum Bochum / Leibniz Research Museum for Georesources.

In May 2018 he became the new head of the Wuppertal Historical Center. He is responsible for the Museum for Early Industrialization , the Engels House and the Wuppertal City Archives .
