Life

Born in the time of National Socialism , Eberhard Kernchen completed an apprenticeship as a concrete worker and then studied civil engineering in West Berlin at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin), where he wrote his dissertation on January 8, 1970 under the title Quasi-static theory of major deformations Rods with viscoelastic material laws . In the following year, 1971, Kernchen was appointed professor for the field of mechanics at the TU Berlin .

In 1988 Kernchen took over the field of information processing in building planning at the environmental technology department of the TU Berlin, and in the same year organized a seminar on the subject of CAAD - basics and applications in teaching and research in conjunction with the university working group “Information processing for architects and spatial planners ” .

Eberhard Kernchen was involved in founding the Center for Information Processing and Technical Representation (ZID). From this institution he began his contribution to the history of architects and the development of computer technology ... with a short biography of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz , with his " invention " of the dual number system - due to "[...] the analogy to the two states Electricity / no electricity in an electrical conductor - the basis for all electronic computing technology “was found more than three centuries ago.

In 1993, Kernchen's department was moved to the architecture department of the TU Berlin.

Due to Kernchen's work for the long-term cooperation between the TU Berlin and the State Technical University for Construction in Moscow (MSUCE), Eberhard Kernchen was accepted as a member of the International Informatization Academy (IIA) at the suggestion of the Moscow University in 1997 .
