Echinocereus parkeri is a species of plant in the genus Echinocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet parkeri honors the British David Parker, the founder of the "Echinocereus Reference Collection".
description
Echinocereus parkeri has many shoots and forms compact pads or open groups. The tapered or cylindrical shoots are up to 15 centimeters long and have a diameter of 2 to 6 centimeters. There are six to ten ribs that are humped. The one to eight initially dark, then soon glassy white to yellowish central spines have a length of 2 to 6.5 centimeters. The six to 18 very slender and mostly glassy radial spines are 0.7 to 1.2 centimeters long.
The funnel-shaped flowers are magenta to deep pink and have a white throat. They appear near the shoot tips, are 4.5 to 5.5 inches long and reach 4.5 to 6 inches in diameter. The green, spherical fruits contain a white pulp and are covered with sloping, glassy white thorns.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Echinocereus parkeri is common in the Mexican states of Nuevo León , Tamaulipas , San Luis Potosí, and Zacatecas .
The first description by Nigel Paul Taylor was published in 1988. The following subspecies are distinguished:

- Echinocereus parkeri subsp. arteagensis W.Blum & Mich.Lange
- Echinocereus parkeri subsp. gonzalezii (NPTaylor) NPTaylor
- Echinocereus parkeri subsp. mazapilensis W.Blum & Mich.Lange
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
