Eckardt Suhl

Eckardt Suhl , also Eckart Suhl (born April 20, 1943 in Hamburg ) is a former German hockey player and Olympic champion .

Suhl played for Uhlenhorster HC from Hamburg, in 1964 the left winger won the German indoor hockey championship with his club, and the following year he took second place in field hockey.

In 1965 he made his debut in the German national hockey team . At the Olympic Games in 1968 , the team took fourth place. The German team finished fifth at the first World Cup in Barcelona . A year later, the Germans faced world champions Pakistan in the final of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich . The Germans won 1-0 in front of their home crowd with a goal from Michael Krause . Suhl was only used once in the 1972 Olympic tournament, but also received the gold medal.

For winning the gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he and the German national Olympic hockey team were awarded the silver laurel leaf on May 25, 1972.

Overall, Eckardt Suhl was involved in 47 international matches from 1965 to 1972.
