Eckart Flemming

Eckart Flemming (born September 7, 1929 in Königsberg , † March 23, 2005 in Freiberg ) was a German engineer and university professor.

Life

Eckart Flemming graduated from the St. Thomas School in Leipzig in 1950 . He then trained as a moulder at the VEB Elektrochemisches Kombinat Bitterfeld . From 1952 to 1957 he studied foundry at the Bergakademie Freiberg .

He worked in Bitterfeld for a good year and returned to the Bergakademie at the beginning of 1959, where he took up a position as a research assistant in the main distance learning department. In 1965 he received his doctorate in engineering. From July 1966 he worked at the Foundry Institute of the Bergakademie. After the third university reform in the GDR in 1968, he became head of the foundry technology test field in the newly established Metallurgy and Materials Technology section. In 1970 he received the teaching qualification for the field of molding materials . For over ten years he was lecturer and head of the molding materials teaching group. On January 19, 1982 he took his PhD B and was appointed associate professor.

In 1991 he was awarded the academic degree Dr.-Ing. habil. in the same year became vice dean of the metallurgy and materials engineering department. On June 1st, 1992 he was appointed professor for foundry technology / shaping, at the same time he took over the management of the re-established foundry institute. In 1995 he retired.

Eckart Flemming died in Freiberg in 2005. His grave is in the Donatsfriedhof .
