Eckhard Baumann

Eckhard Baumann (born September 13, 1967 in Mosbach ) is a German social worker .

Career

Baumann attended the all-day high school in Osterburken from 1978 to 1987 and is a trained design engineer. In the winter of 1999/2000 he founded the “Street Children ” association in Berlin, which offers help and advice to homeless children and young people through street social work. First he distributed tea and biscuits at the Memorial Church and at the Alexanderplatz S-Bahn station . The initially spontaneous help has turned into a rehabilitation project , which, in addition to providing food and clothing, also takes care of escorting authorities and organizing free time . The association now has fourteen permanent employees under his leadership. In April 2010 he opened the “Bolle” children's and youth center in the Marzahn district .

Honors

In 2010 Bauman received the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany “for his social commitment against child poverty, social exclusion and for the social integration of disadvantaged people”.
