Eckhard-Bodo Elze (born April 14, 1951 in Porst near Koethen (Anhalt) ) is a former German local politician. Until 2014 he was active in the former Köthen district , the former Köthen district and the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district .

Life

Elze is the youngest of four children of a former large farmer family in Porst. He has been on stage as a singer since he was 6 and on the carnival stage since he was 17. After graduating from high school, he studied materials handling technology at the TU Magdeburg . He initially worked as a designer and later as the head of the culture department at VEB Förderanlagen- und Kranbau Köthen . From 1979 he was a council member for culture at the council of the district of Köthen. In the meantime he completed a degree in cultural sciences at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art .

In 1979 Elze directed the renovation and expansion of the Naumann Museum in Köthen, the only ornithological history memorial museum in the Biedermeier style in the world. In 1980 he organized the national honor for Johann-Friedrich Naumann , the founder of scientific ornithology in Europe on the occasion of his 200th birthday. On Elze's initiative, the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School in Köthen was founded, which opened in 1983. In 1985 he was the artistic director of the 10th Koethen Bach Festival in the anniversary year of the GDR's "Bach-Handel-Schütz-Honor", which at that time took place for the first time with international participation. In 1987 he was the representative of the Halle district to coordinate the cultural activities of the district on Berlin's 750th birthday. In the same year he led the expansion and renovation of the ensemble Museum Synagoge in Gröbzig. In 1988 he set up a district-owned monument preservation workshop. In October 1989 he announced a construction freeze to the district office of the People's Police, which intended to convert the prison, which had existed as a foreign body in the palace area since 1878, into an office building. In doing so, Elze laid the foundation for this prison to be demolished in December 1991 and for Köthen Palace to exist again as a three-wing complex.

In the same period (October 1989) he founded the SDP in Köthen with like-minded people . During the political change he was one of the founders of the round table in the Köthen district , which at the beginning of 1990, until the new district assembly was constituted, made him the chairman of the district council. He then became head of the cultural office of the Köthen district and, from 2007, of the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district . From 2007 to 2014 Elze was the only head of the cultural office in a district in Saxony-Anhalt . In the meantime, he was also responsible for the schools, tourism and sport departments. In 1992 he brought the first book bus in Saxony-Anhalt to the district of Köthen. In 2008 he initiated the expansion of the Marstall in Köthen Castle into a new music school; the ceremonial handover took place in December 2010. In 2014 he took early retirement.

In 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2015 he was the director of the international viola da gamba competition Bach - Abel in Köthen, the only competition in the world for this instrument.

Elze has been married since 1977 and has one son.

Honorary positions

  • Elze has been a member of the Eintracht Köthen men's choir since 1973, and Chorklang Eintracht since 2015 ; since 2016 he has been the 1st chairman of the mixed choir.
  • In 1992 he was co-founder of the new 1st Köthener Carnival Society KUKAKÖ 1954 eV Elze held the office of President from June 10, 2018 to October 28, 2019 after many years as Vice President. He is currently a member of the 911 Council.
  • For many years he has been a member of the stamp collectors' association in 1877 Köthen , the association of the Koethen Bach Memorial and treasurer of the association for the posthistorical home collection Koethen eV
