Porst is a district of Köthen (Anhalt) in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt .
Geographical location
About two kilometers to the southwest and south of the town is the urban area of Köthen. Zehringen is about a kilometer to the east.
history
In 1386 the place was already mentioned with the name Porst. The von Schuder sold two Freihufen and a Freihof to the Nikolaistift von Aken (Elbe) in 1386 . In 1508 Prince Waldemar VI sold. the village to Andreas Questen or Quest / Quast. On June 12, 1701, a severe fire destroyed large parts of the village. In 1765 the princely estate was sold and divided. In 1822 the Porst customs house , which is now a listed building , was built to collect road tolls. In 1939 Porst had 364 inhabitants. It was incorporated into Köthen in 1961.

The place is on the federal highway 185 from Köthen to Dessau . In Porst, the federal road 187a turns north to Zerbst / Anhalt .
The railway line from Köthen to Dessau runs north of the town; there is no separate stop.
