history

The first documentary mention as Zeringe took place in 1370 or, according to other sources, as early as 1145. The year 1145 may be confused with a place Zeerobuuech .

In 1505 the von Quast sold the Zehringen manor to the von Schlegel who in turn sold it in 1785 or 1783 for 40,000 thalers to Prince Carl Georg Lebrecht. In 1620 the plague raged in Zehringen. In 1631 there was looting during the Thirty Years War . At the end of the war, in 1648, the place was depopulated. In 1849 Zehringen came to the Eggeling family . The manor was taken over in 1886 by the Strandes family, who built a sugar factory on it. In 1942 a flood caused damage in the village. After the end of the Second World War , the manor house was initially inhabited by expellees , officially resettlers , from Czechoslovakia . Zehringen had its own bakery (family Kaufmann) until the 1950s. On May 25, 1951, a nursing home was established here. The home increasingly developed into a home for people with intellectual disabilities. It has been privately owned since 1994.

Culture and sights

The church

The church is located next to the Gut Zehringen nursing home . The substructure of the church tower probably dates from the 12th century. The nave with a triple choir closure was probably built in the late Gothic period . The sacristy on the south side was added in 1749. In 1783/84 an extensive renovation took place during which, among other things, the tower was repaired, new windows broken in and the church plastered. In 1835 a new roof structure was installed. It is possible that the half-timbered tower was replaced by a stone tower in 1856. In 1916 a fire in the rectory destroyed parts of the older church records. Renovations were carried out in 2007.

In 1935 a war memorial was erected next to the church.

There is a one-hectare park in the village that belongs to the nursing home.

traffic

North of Zehringen runs the federal highway 185 , south of the provincial road  136. The town itself running from north to south, a road connecting these roads, and extending in a northwesterly direction road to Porst.

The village has no rail connection.
