Eckhard Schneider (Museum Director)

Eckhard Schneider (* 1943 in Koppatz near Cottbus ) is a German art historian and museum director.

Life

Schneider studied art and was briefly employed as an art teacher at the grammar school in Neuenhaus , Lower Saxony . From 1976 to 1989 he headed the Städtische Galerie in Nordhorn . He initiated the Art Prize of the City of Nordhorn , which was awarded for the first time in 1979 and whose prize winners included Timm Ulrichs and Walter Stöhrer . From 1990 to 2000 Schneider was managing director and artistic director of the Kunstverein Hannover and from 2000 to 2008 director of the Kunsthaus Bregenz . From 2008 to 2015 he headed the PinchukArtCentre by Viktor Pinchuk inKiev .
