Salim Ghazi Saeedi (* 19th July 1981 in Tehran ) is an Iranian composer and guitarist , who in a variety of genres varying from progressive metal and jazz fusion to classical avant-garde - chamber music , progressive electronic rock , Rock In Opposition (RIO) and new music is active. However, some critics prefer the term art rock and hear a minimalist approach in the music .

biography

Salim Ghazi Saeedi was born in Tehran in 1981 . In 1999 he started playing the guitar. So far he has composed three albums as a member of the band Arashk : "Abrahadabra" (2006), "Sovereign" (2007) and "Ustuqus-al-Uss" (2008). On his fourth album "Iconophobic", composed and recorded on his own and released under his own name in 2010, he plays the guitar as well as the keys and is responsible for editing the drums, mixing and producing. In 2011 he published "Human Encounter".

Critics compare his style to Univers Zero , Art Zoyd , John Zorn , Patrick O'Hearn, Mike Oldfield , Sufjan Stevens and The Enid, Djam Karet and Birdsongs of the Mesozoic , David Bedford , Richard Pinhas , ZNR, Mecano, Present , and Aranis of the entire Belgian chamber rock scene. Harmonie Magazine has compared his guitar playing to King Crimson frontman Robert Fripp .

His albums are concept albums in the genre of progressive rock with a varied use of instruments, varying from classical instruments to rock instrumentation and electronic noises. He describes himself as "an eternal improviser ... either while performing or composing."
