Eckhart Bartels (* 1947 in Großenheidorn ) is a German journalist and nonfiction - author for automobiles , in particular vintage cars and vehicles of the brand Opel .

Life

Born at Steinhuder Meer, Eckhart Bartels completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk after finishing school in the late 1960s . He later worked as a marketing communications specialist.

In 1972 he co-founded the Alt-Opel Interest Group (AOIG), one of the first brand clubs in the German classic car scene. Under his leadership, the AOIG grew to around 1700 members in Germany and abroad within 25 years. During this time Bartels edited the award-winning Alt-Opel-Magazin und -Markt magazine, which he published .

Since 1983 Eckhart Bartels has published a series of books on the subject of Opel on the basis of his own “technology archive”. The Almanach Jahrbuch Opel , for which he is responsible, has been published since 1999 .

Bartels was a co-author of the 2005 Encyclopedia of Classic Automobiles published by David Lillywhite and Halwart Schrader .
