The Ecoboot is a purely electrically powered multi-purpose ship that is mainly used for waste disposal in downtown Utrecht . Alongside the beer boat, it is the city of Utrecht's second ship to be used to reduce environmental pollution in the city center.

Construction and equipment

The Ecoboot is a welded steel construction with a purely electric drive. The current is provided by four battery packs with 480 volts each . In the bow is a 20-hp Kalkman- is bow thruster beta-type Super installed 20 E. An electrohydraulic crane transports the garbage cans from the street to the boat and empties them into one of the eight 3 m³ bins set up on board using a tilting system, as is also used in garbage trucks . All types of waste such as glass , paper , organic waste and residual waste are transported at the same time . If necessary, 26 roll containers or 24 refrigerated containers can be set up on deck instead of the waste containers . The boat can carry 15 tons of cargo, which is the equivalent of two garbage trucks. During loading, the boat can be anchored with a hydraulically lowerable anchor post . With a total height of only 1.63 m, the Ecoboot can also pass under the lowest bridges.
