Edward Allen Bernero
Edward Allen Bernero (born August 29, 1962 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American screenwriter , producer and director .
He was involved in the development of the television series Third Watch - Operation at the Limit and worked as an executive producer for Criminal Minds. He also worked on the development of the spin-off Criminal Minds: Team Red and the crime series Crossing Lines .
Life
Bernero was born in Chicago in August 1962. Prior to working in the television industry, Bernero was a police officer with the Chicago Police Department .
He began his television career in 1997 as a freelance writer on the CBS police series Brooklyn South . Based on his experience as a police officer, Bernero and John Wells developed the Third Watch series . For this, which was broadcast in the USA as Third Watch , Bernero worked as a screenwriter, producer and director and was nominated for the Humanitas Prize in 2001 for his work on the episode After Hours .
After Third Watch was discontinued , Bernero became Executive Producer of Criminal Minds in 2005 . He was also involved in the production of the series as a screenwriter and director and developed the spin-off Criminal Minds: Team Red in 2011 , which was broadcast in the USA as Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior . The spin-off was discontinued after a season of 13 episodes after being introduced by a backdoor pilot on the parent series.
Bernero also worked as an executive producer on the CBS Washington Field project . This series was developed by Jim Clemente and Tim Clemente and is part of the National Capital Response Squad , a unit of the FBI . The pilot aired in November 2009.
From 2013 to 2014, Bernero was involved in the development and production of the Crossing Lines series together with Rola Bauer . He finished this work after the second season.
