Ed Cuffee
Edward Emerson "Ed" Cuffee (born June 7, 1902 in Norfolk , Virginia , † January 3, 1959 in New York City , New York ) was an American jazz trombonist .
Cuffee moved to New York City in the mid-1920s and played with Clarence Williams and Bingie Madison . From 1929 to 1934 he was with McKinney's Cotton Pickers and from 1935 to 1938 in the big band of Fletcher Henderson . In the 1940s he played with Leon Abbey (from 1940), Count Basie (1941), Chris Columbus (1944) and Bunk Johnson (1947). At the end of the 1940s he gave up the music profession.
