Edward "Eddie" Devlin Connachan (born August 27, 1935 in Prestonpans ) is a former Scottish football goalkeeper .

Career

Eddie Connachan was born in Prestonpans , Scotland, in 1935 . He began his football career in the 1950s with Dalkeith Thistle, not far from his birthplace. He also worked in shifts in the coal mine. In May 1957 he signed a contract with Dunfermline Athletic . The biggest success in the Dunfermline jersey was winning the Scottish Cup in the 1961 final against Celtic Glasgow . Dunfermline reached the final for the first time in the club's history and won it. For the club he completed a total of 126 league games in Division One by 1963. Further missions followed in the European Cup Winners' Cup , where he reached the quarter-finals with the team in the 1961/62 season . In August 1963 Connachan moved to England for the second division club Middlesbrough for a fee of £ 5,500 . During the current 1965/66 season in which the team should be relegated at the end, the goalkeeper moved back to Scotland and signed with FC Falkirk . After two years in Falkirk, he emigrated to South Africa and played for Port Elizabeth City, East London Celtic and East London United.

National team

Eddie Connachan completed two international matches for the Scottish national football team . On November 29, 1961, he made his debut in a 2-4 loss to Czechoslovakia . His last of the two missions followed on May 2, 1962 in a 2-3 defeat at Hampden Park against Uruguay .
