Edward "Eddie" Hunter Turnbull (born April 12, 1923 in Falkirk , Scotland , † April 30, 2011 ) was a Scottish football player and coach.

career

Turnbull started his career with the resumption of regular play at Hibernian Edinburgh . Together with Gordon Smith , Bobby Johnstone , Lawrie Reilly and Willie Ormond , he formed the club's attack line that went down in history as the "Famous Five". With the team he won the Scottish championship three times. Appointed to the Scottish national team for the first time in 1948 , he took part in the 1958 World Cup with the team ten years later .

After he had ended his career in 1959 after 149 league goals, he took over his first coaching post four years later at FC Queen's Park . In 1965 he was recruited from FC Aberdeen , with whom he won the Scottish National Cup in 1970. After a runner-up in the following season he followed the advertising of his home club Hibernian, with whom he won the Scottish League Cup in 1972. Until 1980 he headed the team from the sidelines, then he retired from the football business.
