The Edelweißhütte is a refuge of the Alpenverein Edelweiss section of the Austrian Alpine Club on the north side of the Schneeberg .
location
The hut is located on the Fadensattel above the mountain station of the Salamander chairlift in Losenheim in the market town of Puchberg am Schneeberg in southern Lower Austria at 1235 m above sea level. A.
history
The hut was built in 1934 by Theresia Gschaider under the name "Bergheimat Resi-Tant". Shortly before the end of the war in April 1945, the hut was severely damaged by the effects of the war.
At the end of the 1950s, the hut of the Edelweiss section was offered for sale. In January 1960 the contract for the hut and 1560 m² of land was signed.
In 1997 the section bought an adjoining piece of land of 1870 m² above the hut. In the following year, a sewer line was laid from the hut into the valley and a 20 kV power cable was also laid at the same time, including a transformer station at the hut. The kitchen on the ground floor was expanded by an extension in 2000 and the sleeping situation on the upper floor was improved.
