The Damböckhaus is a refuge of the Austrian Tourist Club on the Schneeberg in Lower Austria.
location
The Damböckhaus, named after a Viennese industrialist, is located in the middle of the high plateau, about 15 minutes' walk from the terminus of the rack railway. The refuge is a stopover on the one-hour walk to the fisherman's hut .
history
The Damböckhaus was built in 1872 by the Puchberg cattle herders. The Viennese silk manufacturer Johann Damböck supported this building with financial means, hence the name Damböckhaus. It was renovated in 1898 and taken over by the Austrian Tourist Club.
In May 2010 the Damböckhaus and the Fischerhütte were connected to the water and sewer network.
