history
The stallion hut was built around 1900 by a charcoal burner and initially served as a simple shelter for a hunter. It was not until 1920 that Hengsthütte by the family Mühlhofer in a resting-place, like a wine tavern converted. From 1960 the hut passed into the possession of Johann Gschaider, who settled there. In 1981 his daughter Anna Postl took over the stallion hut as the official refuge. In 1982 there was a fire in the fireplace that destroyed parts of the kitchen. After the death of her mother, Andrea Postl took over the hut in 1994 and had a solar system and power generators installed. In 2002 a power connection was set up in the Hengsthütte for the first time, and in 2003 a sewer connection was also set up. In the following years a modern kitchen, modern toilet facilities and a new dining room were built.
