Ederbergland is a term for a region in Northern Hesse with more of a tourist connotation . This includes several communities along the middle course of the Eder and thus parts of two geologically clearly different areas: the eastern foothills of the Rothaargebirge (natural area: East Sauerland mountain range ) and the northwestern Burgwald .

The Ederbergland occupies a large part of the old Frankenberg district , which became part of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district as part of the regional reform . In addition to the town of Frankenberg , the Ederbergland also includes the communities of Battenberg , Allendorf , Hatzfeld and Bromskirchen .

The surface shapes in the Ederbergland range from steeper peaks to more gently shaped hills to completely flat alluvial land in the Edertal. While the steeper terrain is mostly composed of coniferous and mixed forest , hills and alluvial land serve as arable and pasture areas .

Together with the communities of the Burgwald in Central Hesse , the Ederbergland forms the LEADER region "Burgwald-Ederbergland"
