Edgar Blossfeldt

Edgar Blossfeldt (born November 27, 1919 in Tallinn , Estonia , † March 2, 2012 in Germany ) was a German - Estonian soccer player , volleyball player , coach and referee, basketball player and sports official .

Life

Edgar Blossfeldt was born in Tallinn in 1919 . From 1938 to 1940 and in 1943 he played for JS Estonia Tallinn in the Estonian Football Championship . In the seasons 1937/38 , 1938/39 and 1943 he was with the Estonian Association. In 1940 he was Estonian volleyball champion with ÜENÜTO Tallinn , and in 1943 he was runner-up in basketball with Tallinna SK . As a member of the German-Baltic minority, he was appointed three times to the Estonian national football team, but did not play an international match. In 1942 he was transferred to theGerman national basketball team appointed.

At the beginning of 1965 he became the first full-time national coach of the German Volleyball Association . He was responsible for the DVV men in a total of 92 international matches between 1958 and 1970. In 1963 he was the first Federal German referee to take part in the European Championship in Romania. In the same year he was one of the founding members of the North Baden Volleyball Association. At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Blossfeldt was the sports facility director responsible for holding 60 matches for the volleyball tournament. The German Volleyball Association called him a "volleyball pioneer". He died in 2012 at the age of 93.
