Edgar Schwank ( Latvian Edgars Švanks ; born November 2, 1973 ) is a former Latvian - German handball trainer and handball player and has been a team manager of the Latvian men's national handball team since 2013 .

Career

The 2.00 m tall native of Latvia began playing handball in Riga . In 1995 the right back player moved to the German Bundesliga club VfL Hameln . In 1997 he joined VfL Bad Schwartau . After two years he went to ThSV Eisenach . In 2001 he signed with the first division relegated TuS N-Lübbecke , with whom he returned to the upper house in 2002 . He also had to relegate in 2003 , but returned to the Bundesliga a year later. As a result, his contract was no longer extended.

Edgar Schwank played 50 international matches for the Latvian national team from 1992. Since his grandfather came from Görlitz , he received the German passport in 1996. He then played another twelve games for the German men's national handball team .

After the end of his career, he trained the national league team SHG Hofgeismar / Grefenstein and was active as a player agent for the Latvian legionnaires in the 2nd and 3rd league. He has been the team manager of the Latvian selection since 2013.
