Edmond Davall the Younger
Edmond Davall the Younger (born March 23, 1793 in Orbe , † December 18, 1860 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss forester .
Life
The son of the British botanist Edmond Davall (1763 to 1798) studied forestry in Germany , where he graduated with a diploma in 1816. He then worked as a landscape designer in Orbe , Lausanne and Moudon . He played a decisive role in the formulation of the Swiss Forest Act of 1835.
Davall was a founding member of the Société vaudoise des forestiers and Vice President of the cantonal forestry commission. From 1832 he was a part-time judge at the District Court of Vevey and from 1843 to 1845 a liberal Grand Councilor of the canton.
Edmond Davall's son Albert was also an important Swiss forester.
Davall's sedge Carex davalliana is named after his father Edmond Davall . James Edward Smith also named the fern genus Davallia after his father.
