Edmond Rochefort

Edmond Rochefort , originally Claude-Louis-Marie de Rochefort-Luçay , (born July 14, 1790 in Évaux-les-Bains , † April 1871 in Paris ) was a French librettist and vaudevillist .

Edmond Rochefort was of aristocratic origin, but did not value his title, although he described himself as a legitimist . He was considered an inspired writer of vaudevilles and chansons .

He often worked with colleagues such as Paul Duport , the Cogniard brothers , Jean-François Bayard and Charles Dupeuty , but also with the politician Emmanuel Arago , for example .

His pieces have been given regularly at renowned theaters such as the Théâtre du Vaudeville , the Théâtre des Variétés , the Théâtre de la Gaîté or the Théâtre des Nouveautés .

His son Henri Rochefort was also known as a vaudevillist, but was also a journalist and politician. In 1863 Edmond Rochefort published his memoirs under the title Mémoires d'un vaudevilliste .
