Lukáš Vydra (born August 23, 1973 in Prague ) is a former Czech athlete who competed in the middle-distance run .

Athletic career

Lukáš Vydra gained his first international experience at the European Indoor Championships in Stockholm in 1996 , where he finished fourth in the 1,500 meter run in 3: 46.20 minutes . The following year he qualified over 800 meters for the World Championships in Athens , where he was eliminated with 1: 50.08 minutes in the lead. In 1998 he reached the semi-finals at the European Indoor Championships in Valencia , where he was eliminated with 1: 50.23 min. In the summer he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Budapest in 1: 45.23 minutes behind the German Nils Schumann and André Bucher from Switzerland. In 1999 he made it to the semi-finals at the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi , where he was eliminated with 1: 49.38 min. Two years later he took part for the last time in an international event, the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon , where he was eliminated with 1: 50.99 minutes in advance.

In 1998 Vydra became Czech champion in the 800-meter run outdoors and in 1999 and 2001 indoors. In 1996 he was also the indoor champion over 1500 meters.
