Charles Dupeuty
Charles Désiré Dupeuty (born February 6, 1798 in Paris , † October 20, 1865 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye ) was a French librettist and playwright .
life and work
Charles Désiré Dupeuty studied at the Lycee Impérial, joined the Armée de la Loire during Napoleon Bonaparte's rule of the Hundred Days ( Cent-Jours ) , where he remained until its dissolution. He made his debut as a theater writer in 1821 and in 1825 founded the opposition magazine La nouveauté . Dupeuty also became known as Vice President of the Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques over a period of six years. He wrote libretti for most of the composers of his time (see catalog raisonné).
His works have been performed in the most famous Parisian theaters of the 19th century, the Théâtre des Folies-Dramatiques , Théâtre du Vaudeville , Théâtre du Palais-Royal , Théâtre de la Gaîté , Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin , Théâtre des Variétés and others.
