Edmund Brüning (born December 21, 1865 in Rapen , Recklinghausen district ) was a German illustrator and painter .
Life
Brüning studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1883 to 1891 . There were Hugo Crola , Heinrich Lauenstein and especially Peter Janssen the Elder his teachers. They trained him to be a history painter. In his later professional life, which he spent in Berlin , he was a portrait and genre painter . He also illustrated literary works from the classical period and the 19th century, including Goethe's Faust I , Adelbert von Chamisso , Karl Gutzkow , Heinrich Heine , Theodor Körner , and Friedrich Rückertand Grillparzer's masterpieces.
