Edmund Loeffler

Edmund Löffler (born June 22, 1900 in Untersteinbach , Rauhenebrach ; † April 1, 1998 in Alzenau i. UFr. ) Was a German composer.

Career

After studying at the Bavarian State Conservatory of Music in Würzburg with Franz Schörg , Karl Wyrott and Hermann Zilcher and at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt, he passed the state examination for teaching music at the Bavarian high schools in 1923. In 1928 he received his doctorate from the University of Frankfurt with a thesis on Peter Winter as a church musician . In 1940 he took over the leadership of a battalion music corps. From 1948 he worked again in his home country, in 1953 he was appointed professor.

Löffler's artistic oeuvre includes hundreds of sound creations, two orchestral schools and a teaching work for budding violinists.

Honors

  • 1981: Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany, "for his cultural and political achievements, especially for his work in the field of brass music"
  • 1980: Golden Communal Merit Medal of the municipality of Karlstein a.Main
