Dieter Jasper

Dieter Jasper (born November 29, 1962 in Hopsten ) is a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ). From 2009 to 2013 he was a directly elected member of the German Bundestag for the Steinfurt III constituency .

Life

education

Jasper was born as the son of the entrepreneur Robert Jasper, who, together with his brother Paul, ran Josef Jasper GmbH & Co KG , which specializes in the manufacture of containers and devices made of steel and stainless steel . In 1969 Dieter Jasper started school at the St. Georg elementary school in Hopsten, and in 1973 he switched to the Goethe-Gymnasium Ibbenbüren , where he graduated from high school in 1982.

From 1982 to 1983 he did basic military service with the fighter-bomber squadron in Rheine . He then studied business administration at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster until 1990 . From 1990 he worked in the family-owned company, initially as an employee and from 1991 as managing partner.

Party career

Jasper is spokesman for the Steinfurt section of the North Rhine-Westphalian Economic Council of the CDU and deputy state treasurer of the medium-sized and economic association of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia.

Member of Parliament

In 2004 he applied for a Bundestag candidacy for the first time, but the CDU nominated Philipp Freiherr Heereman von Zuydwyck for the constituency of Steinfurt III. In the candidacy for the federal election in 2009 he prevailed against Heereman and Karl-Heinz Hagedorn within the CDU at the end of 2008. In September 2009 he was elected to the Bundestag with a 2765 vote ahead of the runner-up Reinhold Hemker (SPD). Jasper did not run again for the 2013 Bundestag elections and therefore left the Bundestag on October 22, 2013.

In the Bundestag , Dieter Jasper was a full member of the Committee on Economics and Technology and a deputy member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs .

Unrecognized doctoral degree

In early 2010, there was a controversy surrounding Jasper's PhD. In April 2004, he had obtained the academic degree of Doctor of Economics from the Swiss title mill "Free University of Teufen". In January 2010, when asked by the regional media, Jasper stated that he had obtained his doctorate degree after the 2009 Bundestag election because it was not recognized in Germany. Politicians from the SPD, the Greens and the Left then demanded Jasper's resignation, as the “degree purchased had played a major role in the election campaign” and Jasper was therefore “elected under the wrong circumstances”. They therefore tried an election test by the President of the Bundestag . Jasper subsequently resigned from the Supervisory Board of Volksbank Tecklenburger Land.

On March 4, 2010, the President of the Bundestag, Norbert Lammert (CDU), decided not to appeal to the Bundestag's election review committee. A preliminary investigation initiated by the public prosecutor's office in Münster against Jasper for misuse of the title was closed on May 6, 2010, subject to a payment of EUR 5,000. Jasper had committed title abuse, but his guilt was characterized by a constant admission and remorse.

Public offices and other engagements

Jasper holds a seat on the Hopsten parish council for his party . He is involved with the social association VdK Germany , with the community foundation Tecklenburger Land in Ibbenbüren , and with Sportler 4 a childrens world , Lotte , as well as for dark chocolate in Münster.

Private

Dieter Jasper is married and has two children.
