Eduard Adrian Dussek
Eduard Adrian Dussek (born March 24, 1871 in Klyussó / Hungary ; † November 12, 1930 in Vienna ) was an Austro-Hungarian genre painter .
Life
Dussek studied law before turning to painting. He studied first in Budapest , then at the Munich and Vienna Academy under Siegmund L'Allemand (1890–1897). He was a member of the German Art Cooperative and the Albrecht Dürer Association. In 1909 he received the Honorary Prize of the City of Vienna for a woman's portrait , in 1910 the silver and 1928 the gold medal.
He took part in the First World War as a war painter in the Austro-Hungarian War Press Quarter, in whose art group he was accepted as a member in 1915. He painted and drew in Belgrade and on the Isonzo Front , where he suffered gas poisoning from an aerial bomb in 1917 . Contrary to the custom of the war press quarters to show works by war painters only in group exhibitions, Dussek received permission in 1918 for a separate exhibition of his works in the military casino in Vienna, where several depictions of anti-aircraft guns and enemy planes were on view.
In the last years of his life he had to stay afloat as a restorer and drawing teacher. In 1930 he died mentally deranged in Vienna.
