Eduard Albert Friedrich Klatten (born August 29, 1832 in Münster ; † June 10, 1892 in Hamburg-Winterhude ) was a royal Prussian lieutenant general and most recently inspector of the rifle factories.

His parents were the General Staff Doctor of the VII Army Corps Eduard Klatten (* March 29, 1800 - August 12, 1872) and his wife Albertine Schumann adopted Reuter (* June 22, 1811; † November 6, 1876).

Life

He first went to the Protestant school and then to the grammar school in Münster. After graduating, he joined the 11th Hussar Regiment on August 7, 1849 as a hussar . On December 1, 1849, he moved to the 4th Cuirassier Regiment , and on June 14, 1850, he became a portepeef ensign. On August 18, 1851, he moved to the 30th Infantry Regiment , where he was appointed second lieutenant on December 9, 1851. From October 1, 1855 to June 20, 1856 he was assigned to the rifle acceptance commission in Wesel as an auxiliary officer. He was then assigned to the rifle factories in Spandau and Saarn as an auxiliary officer from November 1, 1856 to January 31, 1859 . To connection he was promoted to adjutant of the inspection of the rifle factories on February 1, 1859 and on May 31, 1859 to Premier-Lieutenant. Retaining his position, he was transferred to the 70th Infantry Regiment. On March 20, 1872, promoted to captain, he came to the Saarn rifle factory as assistant director, and was placed à la suite for the regiment. As early as August 21, 1862, he came to the Danzig rifle factory as assistant director. He stayed there until July 3, 1867, when he was posted to the artillery department of the War Ministry and transferred there on September 25, 1867. On March 22, 1868 he rose to major. For his services to the M71 rifle , he was awarded the 4th Class Red Eagle Order on August 11, 1872 . On November 30, 1872, he was appointed president of the rifle revision commission in Sömmerda and the acceptance commission in Suhl, and he was made a la suite of the war ministry. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1873. On December 28, 1875 he was appointed director of the rifle and ammunition factory in Spandau, in addition he received the function of regimental commander and was placed à la suite of the war ministry. He was promoted to colonel on March 22, 1876, and became the rifle factory inspector on December 2, 1876.
On April 16, 1882, he received the Order of the Crown, 2nd Class, and on July 6, 1882, he was promoted to Major General. On January 18, 1885, he was also awarded the Order of the Red Eagle 2nd Class with Oak Leaves . Because of his poor health, he was given three months' leave on May 13, 1886, from May 20, which he spent in Badenweiler , southern Germany and Berlin; in addition he received on May 20, 1886 the star for the Crown Order. After his return he was put up for disposal on September 18, 1886 with the character of lieutenant general and pension . He died on June 10, 1892 in Hamburg-Winterhude.
