Eduard Anderson

Eduard Wilhelm Franz Anderson (born March 13, 1873 in Prussian Holland ; † January 5, 1947 in Stade ) was a German painter and museum director in Königsberg (Prussia) .

Life

Eduard Anderson was the son of the law firm Heinrich Anderson and studied from 1893 to 1903 at the Königsberg Art Academy . He went on study trips to the Netherlands, North Africa, the Middle East and North America. As a landscape painter , etcher and lithographer , he chose motifs from East Prussia , especially from Königsberg and the Curonian Spit . From 1897 to 1920 he was in charge of the copper engraving collection of the Albertus University in Königsberg and from 1910 to 1927 he was in charge of the city of Königsberg's art collections. From 1910 to 1932 he was a secretary on the board of the Königsberger Kunstverein . He founded the picture gallery in Königsberg Castle and initiated the City History Museum in the Kneiphöf town hall, of which he became the first director in 1927. He was the brother of the writer Lydia Timper-Anderson (1867-1935).
