Eduard Goebel

Peter Eduard Goebel (born March 1, 1831 in Hillesheim (Eifel) , † June 30, 1904 in Fulda ) was a German philologist, grammar school director and member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the Center Party .

Life

Goebel attended the Progymnasium in Attendorn as well as the grammar schools in Münster and Cologne . He then studied philosophy and philology in Bonn, where he received his doctorate in 1854. phil. received his doctorate. Goebel was a high school teacher in Aachen , Bonn, Salzburg and Cologne. Between 1863 and 1897 he was director of the grammar school in Fulda.

He has written various philological essays in school programs and journals. He also published a collection of "patriotic" poems, the second edition of which was published in 1895. In addition, he published the Apology and Crito of Plato . In 1903 he published the poems from old and young .

From 1893 until his death in 1904 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the Center Party, in which he represented the constituency of Kassel 12 (Fulda) as a member.

Goebel was an honorary citizen of Fulda. According to him, which is Eduard-Goebel-street named in Fulda.
