Eduard Hülsmann (born December 21, 1801 in Lüdenscheid , † March 23, 1856 in Lennep ) was a German Protestant theologian , educator and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly .

Life

Eduard Hülsmann, a son of pastor Johann Franz Hülsmann (1762-1822), studied Protestant theology in Bonn from 1820 to 1823 . In 1820 he joined the old Bonn fraternity .

After completing his studies, he was principal school principal in Hagen from 1823 to 1827 . In 1827 he was ordained and took up a pastor's position in Dahl (now part of Hagen). When he was elected to a pastorate in Schwelm in 1835 , there were protests because his recently published preacher's bible was branded as rationalistic by the Elberfeld pastor Immanuel Friedrich Sander . The dispute led to legal battles and more than 30 pamphlets. The election of Hülsmann was ultimately not confirmed by the Provincial Consistory in Münster. In 1837 Hülsmann instead went to Lennep in the Rhine Province as a pastor , where he later also became a school caretaker.

In 1848 he was a member of the constituency 27, Rhineland (Lennep) province in Frankfurt's Paulskirche parliament . He first joined the Café Milani faction and later the Casino faction .
