Eduard Killias

Eduard Wolfgang Killias (born March 1, 1829 in Chur ; † November 14, 1891 ibid) was a Swiss doctor and naturalist . Its botanical author abbreviation is " Killias ".

Live and act

Killias attended high school in Chur. He then studied medicine in Zurich , Bern , Tübingen , Prague and Vienna . In 1852 he received his doctorate in medicine and surgery. From 1852 he worked as a city doctor in Chur , later as a spa doctor in Le Prese and from 1864 as a spa doctor in Tarasp / Vulpera . In 1857 he married Sophie Würth.

The most important botanical work to be mentioned is research into the flora of the Lower Engadine, which he recorded in his Flora of the Lower Engadine . His herbarium is now kept in the Herbarium Rhaeticum in Chur.
