Eduard Lange (pomologist)
Eduard Theodor Lange (born September 10, 1803 in Reust near Ronneburg , † April 17, 1868 in Altenburg ) was a German teacher and pomologist .
Life
Eduard Lange was the eldest son of the pastor in Reust at the time. He later married Antonie Besser, with whom he had at least one son, Edmund Lange .
Lange spent his childhood in Saara from 1808 and from 1816 attended the grammar school in Altenburg . In 1822 he beagb after a successful exam at the University of Leipzig in order to study theology to deny. In 1825 he joined a Burschenschaft union connection and became the University consecutive referenced . In 1827 and 1828, respectively, he was offered to re-enter his studies by the University of Leipzig, but he preferred to return to Altenburg and work as a private teacher. In 1828 he was enrolled at the University of Munich and studied philology and mathematics until 1830 . He completed his training at the Higher Trade School in Potsdam , and also attended some science lectures in Berlin .
He started his career and finally found his professional fulfillment in 1832 as a main teacher and conductor at the art and trade school in Altenburg. From 1838 he was also a scientifically oriented teacher and conductor of the Altenburg Citizens' Boys School. He held the title of "professor" throughout his life , and in 1865 Lange was awarded the title of "school councilor" by the highest decree of his sovereign, Duke Joseph von Sachsen-Altenburg , combined with his appointment as a secular member of the ducal who had a seat and a voice Consistory . Here he was mainly involved in the section on elementary schools.
For a long time he was an active member of numerous associations and thus took an active part in the social life of his time. However, he developed special and much-noticed activities as secretary and director of the Pomological Society in Altenburg.
