Eduardo de Carvalho

Eduardo de Carvalho (* 1962 in Ainaro , Portuguese Timor ; † February 6, 2010 in Dili , East Timor ) was an East Timorese politician . Most recently he was in the IV. Constitutional East Timorese government of Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão Secretary of State for Fisheries .

Life

Carvalho grew up in the Ainaro district and attended primary and secondary school there. His interest in fishing and agriculture led him to study related academic subjects. In 1987 Carvalho began to work as head of the fisheries department for the then Ainaro district . In 1990 he became head of the planning office for fisheries and agriculture in Dili, in 1997 head of the Sucos Bairro Pite and as a result a member of the district parliament of Dili .

In the 1990s Carvalho was a full member of the Resistência Nacional dos Estudantes de Timor-Leste RENETIL (National Resistance of the Students from Timor-Leste), the East Timorese pro-independence student movement that was directed against the Indonesian occupation. After the independence referendum in East Timor in 1999 , Carvalho worked in various positions in the interim administration under UNTAET . From 2001 he was a member of the Partido Democrático PD and deputy party chairman in the Dili district from 2006. From 2003 to 2007 Carvalho continued to work as an official in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. On September 30, 2007, Carvalho took his oath of office as Secretary of State for Fisheries.

Carvalho was married and had five children.
