Elizabeth Christobel Edith Bagaya, Princess (Batebe) of Toro (* 1936 in the Kabarole district ) is a Ugandan diplomat and politician .

biography

Bagaya comes from the royal family of the Kingdom of Toro and was a royal princess (Batebe) in the court of her brother Rukirabasaija Patrick David Matthew Koboyo Olimi III, who was King of Toro from 1966 to 1995.

From 1969 to 1973 she was Ambassador at-large in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then initially until 1974 Ambassador to Egypt and as such also accredited to Ethiopia . In 1974 she was briefly Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York City .

In 1974 she was Uganda's foreign minister in the government of President Idi Amin for some time .

President Yoweri Museveni last appointed her ambassador to the United States in 1988 . She held this office until 1989.
