Edward Herbert, 3rd Baron Herbert of Chirbury (* 1633 - December 9, 1678 ) was an English nobleman and military man.

Herbert was the son of Richard Herbert, 2nd Baron Herbert of Chirbury , and his first wife Mary Egerton. When his father died on May 13, 1655, he inherited his title of nobility.

In 1659 he took part in the royalist uprising in Cheshire under Sir George Booth in favor of Charles II. The uprising failed and he was briefly captured. After the Restoration , Herbert held the office of Custos rotulorum in Montgomeryshire from 1660 to 1678 , and from 1666 to 1678 also in Denbighshire . In 1669 he became a member of the Privy Council .

Before 1660 he married Anne Middleton, daughter of Sir Thomas Middleton of Chirk († 1666). After her death, he married Elizabeth Brydges, daughter of George Brydges, 6th Baron Chandos († 1655) , in 1673 .

Herbert died in 1678 and was buried in Westminster Abbey . Since he had no sons, his younger brother Henry Herbert inherited his title of nobility. His widow married three more times after his death, namely William O'Brien, 2nd Earl of Inchiquin († 1692), Charles Howard, 4th Baron Howard of Escrick († 1715) and a "Mr. George".
